Travis Scott has been called out by Dennis Rodman for copying the look of his sneaker designs.
At the recent Got Sole sneaker convention in Chicago earlier this week, the 61-year-old former NBA player accused the 30-year-old rapper of plagiarizing his reverse Nike swoosh design.
In a clip shared by HipHopDXthe Chicago Bulls legend picked up a pair of Scott’s Air Jordan 1 collaborations from 2019 and asked him to give him credit for his original design.
“Travis Scott copied my shoe,” he said in the video speaking to the father-of-two – who recently filed to legally change his son’s name with baby mum Kylie Jenner, 25.
“Come on, Travis,” he continued. ‘Give me some credit, you know?’
Rodman goes on to claim that Scott copied the backwards swoosh from his signature Nike Air Darwin sneakers from the mid-1990s.
“You copied my shit,” he said in the clip.
“It’s nothing new bro,” he added. “But either way, congratulations.”
The Astroworld hitmaker has yet to respond to Rodman’s claims.
In 2019, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG sneakers released in a mocha and white colorway.
The collaborative shoe featured an upside-down Nike swoosh – which also featured on other shoes in the Travis Scott collection.
Many fans praised the “innovative” design, but Rodman finally decided to speak out.
While at the San Antonio Spurs in the early 90s, Rodman modeled the Nike Air Darwin before it was released to the public in 1994.
The sneakers did not bear his name, however, many considered it to be his signature which he sported in his first two seasons with Spurs.
Since the clip was released, the record producer has not responded or released a statement.
Around the same time, Scott was busy legally filing for a name change for his one-year-old son.
Scott and Jenner share two children – daughter Stormi, five, and baby boy Aire.
When their second child was born in February 2022, the former couple originally named him Wolf.
They decided the name wasn’t right for their newborn and revealed that they landed on the name Aire in January of this year.
In legal documents released by TMZ, Scott and Jenner said they “regretted the initial choice of the name Wolf Jacques Webster” and that Aire was “better suited” for their baby.
The statement read: “Now that the petitioners have had a chance to spend time with their baby, they believe the name Aire Webster is a better fit.”
